Prayer Requests
The living donor transplant is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 14 at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. Dave will be the living donor for Cole, unless a cadaveric liver becomes available prior to that date. Please pray that if God's will is for Cole to receive a cadaveric organ, that the donor family would have peace in the midst of their tragedy, and that they would have the strength and compassion to donate the liver of their loved one. If God's will is for Dave to donate a portion of his liver to Cole, I asked the transplant surgeon for a very specific list of things we can be praying for during the transplant. I told her we didn't necessarily have to understand what these things meant, but we just wanted to be specific in our requests to our Lord, who obviously knows exactly what all this means. This is what she said:
For Dave:
1) that he would have standard hepatic vein anatomy
2) that he would have a big inferior mesenteric vein (IMV)
3) that he would have a "skinny waist" (on the inside)
For Cole:
1) that he would have a good hepatic artery
2) that his portal vein would stay open
3) that his hepatic vein outflow would be good, with no kinking
4) that he would have an uneventful "clamps off"
For the Surgeons:
1) that they would be "on their game"
And of course, we need prayer for no complications, clotted arteries or veins, infection, etc. after the surgery is completed.
Also pray for Anna that she would be strong, happy and comforted while we are apart.
